Sing It Four-Ward
MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION
The Cape Breton Chordsmen encourage their members to "SING IT FOUR-WARD" by inviting other men to come to our chapter meeting to enjoy singing in the unique, four-part Barbershop style. Our chorus is growing as members invite friends to join and those new members invite others. All our current chapter members began this way, as a guest. They were all welcomed warmly. You will be too. Though women participate in Barbershop through other organizations, ours is a Men's group. There is no age limit and there is no particular musical background required. You don't have to be an experienced singer or even read music, though you do need to be able to carry a tune. Our musical team will work with you to determine which part of the chorus would suit you best, depending on your vocal range and ability to harmonize. Once our music team has found a spot for you, and you choose to formally join the chorus, you will be asked to join the umbrella organization, The Barbershop Harmony Society - http://www.barbershop.org -, an international brotherhood of singers thirty-thousand plus strong. There is an application and an annual fee. These fees vary, and our membership chairman or chorus secretary will discuss them with you. As an example, a man who has never been a member before and is under the age of 26 can join for as little as $55.00 for the first year. Normal fees are somewhat higher, and those fees apply on renewal. Membership in the Society includes a subscription to the bi-monthly magazine The HARMONIZER and many other benefits. Singing with a barbershop chorus takes some commitment and practice, but there is no limit in the feeling of satisfaction when you ring a perfect chord, when you bring a tear to the eye of the listener, and when the audience bursts into applause. Come join us in song.
